POST-OP TRICK TO HELP STOP BLEEDING

If you're noticing pressure and gauze packs aren't getting the job done, soak a tea bag in warm/hot water for a minute or so. Black tea is a great choice because it has more tannins than other types of teas.

  1. Allow the tea bag to cool slightly, squeeze out some of the water and place the tea bag over the extraction site.

  2. Gently bite on the tea bag for at least 5 minutes. Up to 15 if bleeding is heavy. The pressure and the tannins help to form a blood clot in the tooth socket.

  3.  Remember to eat soft foods, drink plenty of water, stay ahead of pain medication
(600 mg of Advil/Ibuprofen + 325 mg of Tylenol/Acetaminophen taken together every 8 hours), and get your rest.  Your body is in recovery mode, so take it easy!
